Washington, DC – WCS Construction, LLC welcomed Mayor Vincent Gray, W C Smith Companies, civic leaders and other development partners at a ribbon cutting in celebration of the reopening of the Fairway Park apartments in Northeast Washington.
The redevelopment of the garden apartments in the Carver Langdon neighborhood at 2100 Maryland Avenue, NE is significant in the lives of those residents who have long called this neighborhood home as well as for the preservation of affordable housing. The renovation work performed by WCS Construction, LLC with design by EDG Architects for owner WC Smith Companies and its development partners will provide 408 units of housing for residents with incomes below 60% of the Area Median Income (AMI). The newly renovated apartments have energy efficient appliances and a new washer and dryer in every home. Fairway Park also now offers several other amenities for their long-standing residents to enjoy: a community center, a newly-renovated playground, a community garden and an office space for the Advisory Neighborhood Commission 5D. The ANC Commissioner who was also in attendance for the ribbon cutting spoke quite proudly of what the ANC was able to convey to the development partners and the welcomed changes to her community as a result.
