Rockville, MD – Foulger-Pratt Contracting has received and executed contract from The Morris and Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation for Art Place at Fort Totten. This transformative development is located in Washington DC adjacent to the Fort Totten metro and designed by Shalom Baranes Associates. The transit oriented development (TOD) is comprised of 973,000 square feet and is anticipated to become one of the most highly accessible vibrant urban neighborhood in Washington, DC. The site is strategically located on South Dakota Avenue, NE between Galloway Street, NE and Kennedy Street, NE, less than half a mile from the Maryland line. It is served by Metrorail’s Green, Red and Yellow lines.
Art Place at Fort Totten includes three residential towers upt to 8 floors above grade for a total of 520 luxury rental apartments (527,000 square feet), including 141 affordable units (of which 98 will be reserved for seniors). Additionally, the project includes 2 levels of retail space (104,000 square feet), and above and below grade parking consisting of 601 parking spaces (274,000 square feet). The project will be registered for LEED certification. Construction is expected to commence in late Spring of 2014 and take approximately 34 months, completing in the Summer of 2017.
