Washington, DC — Donohoe Construction Company project, Tyson’s Corner Center – Residential Phase I, received the “Outstanding Civil Engineering Project” award at the annual American Society of Civil Engineers-National Capital Section banquet on March 24th.  ASCE-NCS recognizes and celebrates local excellence in projects each year at this event.

Designed by civil engineer, Patton Harris Rust & Associates and structural engineer, Cardno Haynes Whaley, the Tyson’s Corner Center project is comprised of a 30-story apartment building with 4 levels of below grade parking and a pedestrian bridge connecting the residence to the adjacent Metro station.  The residential tower sits on a raised podium that extends out toward the beltway and features an outdoor plaza that connects the Metro station and shopping mall.

With energy efficient features such as a green roof, floor to ceiling windows and solar shades, the project is expecting to achieve the minimum of a LEED Silver certification level.
