Washington, DC — Donohoe Construction project, The Colonel, celebrated its grand opening in Washington, DC’s Shaw neighborhood on Thursday, May 21st with an open house that displayed various artwork from local artists, a DJ and open bar on the roof deck.
The Colonel consists of 70 luxury units ranging from studios to a two-level penthouse within the 5-story wood frame apartment building. Each unit has nine-foot ceilings, custom cabinetry, hardwood floors, and laundry and GE Artistry appliances. Some units offer private terraces or balconies and floor-to-ceiling windows. Residents have access to a courtyard with a fireplace and a rooftop deck with fire pit, catering kitchen and theater space. Garage parking and a controlled access bike room are also available.
Developed by City Interests, CAS Riegler and Douglas Development, the 64,500 square foot building also includes 8,500 square feet of street-level retail space that will be occupied by three new restaurants. PGN Architects designed The Colonel with historic features, such as exposed masonry walls, throughout the modern building by the preservation and incorporation of the historic building into the new construction.
