Arlington, VA – Tishman Construction Corporation is pleased to announce that J.J. McCarthy has joined its Mid-Atlantic Regional Office as Vice President of Preconstruction and Estimating. Working closely with Jerry Eubanks, Craig Swanson, and Tishman’s Preconstruction and Estimating 
Staff, J.J. will bolster Tishman’s local capacity and resources, strengthening relationships with its clients and creating new opportunities by providing full-service preconstruction and estimating services. A native of McLean, Virginia, J.J. graduated from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor’s of Science in Building Construction, and then earned a Master’s Degree in Building Construction from the University of Florida. He started his career as a Project Assistant at Glen Construction Co., Inc. in Gaithersburg, MD in the late 1980s and worked his way up to Project Manager, Superintendent, Estimator, and, eventually, Director of Preconstruction. During his ten-year tenure at Glen, J.J. was involved in a wide variety and scale of projects, including office buildings, senior living centers, hotels, K-12 schools, institutional facilities, and flex warehouse structures. In the late 1990s, J.J. joined Hubert Construction, LLC, a general contractor in Gaithersburg, MD, as Vice President of Preconstruction Services. Over a ten-year period, J.J. took on increased responsibilities in the day-to-day management of operations and development of strategic planning for the company, achieving a promotion to President and then to CEO. In early 2009, J.J. started his own green building and consulting firm, JJMC, LLC, and then founded Janus Development Services, a real estate development and construction management firm. J.J. later became the Director of Preconstruction Services for KBR Building Group, which was rebranded as BE&K Building Group, a Pernix Group Company, where he worked on projects ranging from multi-family residential buildings to healthcare suites to self-storage complexes to educational facilities. Over the past 28 years, J.J. has gained first-hand experience building projects as a general contractor at-risk, design-build contractor, construction manager, and Owner’s agent. J.J. is a proven leader who is well-known and respected in the local construction community, and Tishman Construction Corp. of DC is excited to have someone of his experience joining its Team.
