Washington, D.C. – Skanska, one of the world’s leading construction and development firms, announced today it has promoted Darick Edmond to Vice President of Operations and hired Alex Curlet as Vice President/Account Manager in its Washington, D.C. office. In his new role, Edmond will directly oversee and manage all project teams in the D.C. region. Curlet will be responsible for the pursuit and execution of development opportunities in the hospitality, office and multifamily sectors.

With more than 28 years of experience in the construction field, Edmond has amassed knowledge through hands-on engagement in building projects. He has worked in a variety of market sectors including residential, retail, mixed-use, education, federal, tenant fit-out and office based building projects. One of his most memorable projects was The Columbia, which involved converting a 1915 hospital into a luxury condominium.

Edmond graduated from Hampton University with a Bachelor of Science degree in building construction technology. He also served as a member of the United States Army Reserves, Corps of Engineers (retired Major).

Curlet comes to Skanska with ten years of operational and preconstruction experience. Prior to joining Skanska, he was with the Clark Construction Group where he worked in the field and the preconstruction department. Most recently he oversaw conceptual, schematic and design development budgets for office, hospitality and multifamily projects.

Curlet received a Bachelor of Science degree from Washington and Lee University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Goizueta School of Business at Emory University. He serves as the treasurer and an executive committee member of First Tee of Washington, which teaches life skills to young people through the game of golf.
