Donohoe Construction Company hosted a “Topping Out” celebration for The Draftsman, a 10-story hotel project located on 1106 West Main Street in Charlottesville, Virginia, earlier today. This event marks the building reaching its highest constructed point.

“It has been a terrific experience to reach this significant juncture and celebrate the hard effort and work of all the stakeholders and especially the workmen and women who have soldiered through the seasons of cold, wet and heat to keep the project on schedule,” says Donohoe Construction Company’s Vice President, Bob McNeil. “The construction site is extremely tight and complex but the final product will accommodate the demands of a local hospital, the City of Charlottesville and of course, the University,” adds McNeil.

Developed by Carr Companies, this boutique hotel will include 150 guestrooms and suites and is designed to include top tier amenities, such as a penthouse level fitness center, a restaurant and 3,000 square feet of meeting space and a business center. The Draftsman will be the first Charlottesville area project in Donohoe Construction Company’s portfolio.

The project broke ground last August and is expected to reach substantial completion in early 2018.
