The 2018 Armed Forces Cycling Classic will again offer companies the opportunity to invite their cycling enthusiasts to participate in the Corporate Challenge. This event, offers each Corporate Challenge Team a number of ways to step-up to the Challenge. Each participating team will also be assigned a 10'x10' Feed Zone ‘Chalet’ in the Corporate Challenge Team area. Teams will be encouraged to invite friends and fans out to this area. This area can be used to re-supply riders with water and food during the event. Registration is based on the number of riders. There is a $1000 minimum team/corporation pledge, in addition to the registration fees. The top three fundraising teams will be recognized on the main stage following the conclusion of the ride.
The Corporate Challenge will cap off this year at around 3,000 riders on Sunday, June 10th. Last year there were over 1,600 riders with nearly 30 teams participating. This year, the teams will be supporting the beneficiary of their choice – all associated with the military. Three beneficiaries have been chosen by an Advisory Committee and include: Our Millitary Kids, TAPS and ALS. The route is approximately 10km (6.5 miles) in and around the Pentagon, Crystal City and Rosslyn, closed to traffic. Participants complete as many laps as they can, for up to 3 hours, either as a Standard Registrant or as part of the Thales Corporate Challenge Team. The start is at 7 am, however riders do not have to start at 7am, as they can check in up to 8am – it just all depends on how many laps participants want to complete by 10am. The major competition is for the most laps by the teams’ top six riders of a team to complete the course.
