Washington, D.C. — SIGAL Construction Corporation and GCS, Inc. have joined forces as the company opens new headquarters in Northeast D.C. and launches a new corporate branding and website to showcase their work in the region. GCS|SIGAL, the new company, brings together the 40-year experience and reputation of SIGAL and GCS with the progressive, creative energies of a new leadership team.
‘By bringing the two companies together under one roof in a collaborative environment, we've strengthened our operations and are built for growth,’ said Mike Sigal, President and CEO of GCS|SIGAL.
Sigal also announced a new leadership structure for the company, elevating SIGAL’s Mark Abbott to Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of GCS|SIGAL and GCS’s Gabe Oliver and Dan Waldo to the roles of Vice Presidents. Additionally, Phil Mueller, who previously led preconstruction services for both SIGAL and GCS, has been named Vice President of Preconstruction for GCS|SIGAL, and Sabir Syed has been hired as the company’s controller.
‘We’re well-positioned to be one of the most efficient and best-performing teams in the D.C. area. Our new structure brings together a group of leaders who know this business inside and out, are committed to our clients, and invest personally in the community,’ Abbott said.
The new website (www.gcs-sigal.com) showcases the company's award-winning range of work, including the newly-renovated Duke Ellington School of the Arts, Garrison Elementary School in Logan Circle, and the residences at Chapman Stables in Truxton Circle. The new site also provides insight into the company culture, with an emphasis on the employees and their projects.
“The excitement at GCS|SIGAL is contagious. We’ve put the focus on our staff and the amazing work that they do for our clients and our company. When our teams win, the clients win; and when the clients win, our company wins,” Waldo said.
Originally founded by Gerry Sigal in 1977 (SIGAL) and 1986 (GCS), the companies have united in a renovated industrial space located at 3020 Yost Place NE. The open work environment and creative use of reclaimed materials reflect the progressive, collaborative style that is built into the GCS|SIGAL DNA.
“We wanted to build a space that matches our energy and enthusiasm,” Sigal said.
GCS|SIGAL has several projects currently in the preconstruction phase delivering over the next two years, including a luxury hotel on M Street in Georgetown and an affordable housing development project in Congress Heights near the new Wizards/Mystics sports arena.
Sigal said: ‘I’m proud of the work we've done, and excited for GCS|SIGAL banners to be up on some of the coolest projects in the city.’
