Rockville, MD – James G. Davis Construction (DAVIS), a leading general contractor in the Washington, DC area, continues to drive success through its approach to corporate social responsibility; this time with its 2nd Annual Charity Golf Tournament.
As Safe and Affordable Housing is one of three core areas that DAVIS supports, this year’s recipient is Jubilee Support Alliance’s (JSA.org) Jubilee Housing – a local nonprofit that provides a lifeline to more than 700 low-income residents, through housing and essential support services within DC’s Adams Morgan community.

The event was held on September 21, 2015 at Cattail Creek Country Club in Glenwood, Maryland. More than 135 DAVIS employees and subcontractors participated in the tournament, raising $67,000 for Jubilee.

“We’re so grateful for the support we’ve received from our subcontracting friends, as well as from our own DAVIS folks who jumped in to give whatever help was needed to meet our fundraising goal. We filled up the tournament in just over two weeks,” says Matt Weirich, VP of DAVIS’ education market sector and lead organizer of the tournament.

For over 20 years DAVIS has been a strong champion for Jubilee, providing support through fundraising, sponsorships, materials donations, in-kind construction services, and volunteer hours. DAVIS VP of Integrated Marketing Communications, Louise Boulton-Lear who leads the company’s CSR outreach, says DAVIS is strategic in its choice of nonprofit partners, focusing on local organizations where the company’s multi-level support can make the most impact.

“Some of our best projects aren’t for profit,” says Boulton-Lear. “Building a community is where DAVIS’ heart is. By forming genuine partnerships with our nonprofits, we can provide meaningful support that affects real change.”

Jubilee Housing President, Jim Knight, says the money raised will virtually close the remaining gap for the Jubilee Life Initiative – a three-year fundraising campaign to acquire and renovate 64 units of affordable housing in Adams Morgan, and create stabilizing opportunities for 44 citizens a year returning from incarceration at two reentry properties.

“We are truly humbled by DAVIS’ great gift of $67,000. It literally helps sustain our residents’ pursuit of life goals through affordable housing, new life opportunities and supportive community,” says Knight.
