Baltimore, MD – Ober|Kaler is pleased to announce the release of Construction Subcontracting: A Comprehensive Practical and Legal Guide, edited and co-authored by Joseph C. Kovars of the firm’s Construction Group.

Published by the American Bar Association’s Forum on the Construction Industry, this book examines the legal relationships between the many parties in a typical construction project: general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, designers and others. Construction Subcontracting: A Comprehensive Practical and Legal Guide brings together a team of experienced attorneys to examine this subject with both a breadth and depth of coverage. Topics include the subcontract document and performance; insurance, bonding and licensure; disputes and different methods for resolution; special project issues, including public projects, alternative delivery methods, and green/sustainable building; and other contracting arrangements.

In addition to serving as one of the book’s editors, Mr. Kovars authored the chapter “Scheduling, Delays and Coordination.”

Mr. Kovars is co-chair of Ober|Kaler’s Construction Group and is an experienced civil litigator who focuses on construction and public contracts law. He represents contractors, subcontractors, sureties and owners in contract formation and construction disputes involving many types of projects.

Mr. Kovars is the author of numerous articles and papers on construction law topics. He has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America since 2003 (Construction category); Maryland Super Lawyers since 2007 (Construction, Construction Litigation and Real Estate categories); and the 2013 edition of The International Who’s Who of Construction Lawyers. In 2013, he was named a Fellow of the American College of Construction Lawyers.
