Alexandria, VA — DelRay Tower Apartments has received official notification from the U.S. Green Building Council that it has achieved LEED Silver status.

DelRay Tower Apartments, a 332-unit complex with 14,000 square feet of retail space, was developed by UDR, Inc. and designed by Lessard Design, Inc. Built by Donohoe Construction, the multifamily building incorporated eco-friendly solutions aimed to enhance the quality of life for the residents and the community.  Electric car charging stations, tenant bike storage, energy efficient appliances and water conserving fixtures are a few of the “green” initiatives that were included in the project.

The LEED green building rating system is developed and administered by the U.S. Green Building Council, a Washington D.C.-based, nonprofit coalition of building industry leaders. The accreditation system is designed to promote design and construction practices that improve sustainability. LEED-certified buildings are less costly to owners and reduce negative environmental impacts. Silver is the second level of certification in the LEED process.
