Arlington, VA — SIGAL Construction Corporation has been awarded the construction of the Candlewood Suites at Fort Meade. The new hotel will be part of the Privatization of Army Lodging (PAL) program which provides temporary homes to soldiers, their families and government travelers.
According to PAL’s website, the goal of the program is to “improve the quality of transient lodging facilities…supporting soldiers and [their] families by privatizing the lodging function.” Approximately 11,800 new hotel rooms will be built across 39 installations.
The Candlewood Suites, an InterContinental Hotel Groups brand, will be a four-story hotel located on a vacant parcel in Fort Meade, Maryland. The 243 guest rooms will house a mix of studios, extended studios, and one-bedroom suites; eight distinguished visitor quarters and an associated lounge will be located on the top floor of the hotel. The hotel will also feature a lobby, administrative areas, breakfast great room, business and fitness centers, central laundry, and an exterior courtyard with an in-ground pool and gazebo building.
Construction of the project includes on-grade parking, drop-off access, and landscape improvements.
