Skanska, VHC Health, HDR and Hammes welcomed members of Women in Healthcare’s DC Chapter to be among the first to tour the VHC Outpatient Pavilion. The six-story facility opens this summer and will include 22,000 square feet devoted to women’s health services including obstetrics, gynecology, maternal-fetal medicine, aging/menopause services, genetics, breast health, urology and cardiology.
Speakers included the team that over saw the design and construction of the facility: Rich Krumenacher, Vice President, VHC Health; Kelly Dorsett, Senior Interior Designer, HDR; Gary Orton, Vice President, Skanska; Morina Peterson, Project Manager, HDR; and Aimee Fogarty, Vice President, Hammes. They explained how the team used innovative techniques to keep the project on track, addressed the challenges faced while building during the pandemic, and detailed how they successfully liaised with the surrounding neighborhood.
The more than 40 attendees were joined by a group of George Washington University students who represent the next generation of women in healthcare construction.
