Rockville, MD – Skanska, a leading global development and construction firm, recently celebrated the topping out of 3901 Fairfax, a nine story, 201,000-square-foot office building in Arlington, Virginia. The project is targeting LEED® Gold, WELL Core V2 Gold and WiredScore Gold certifications.

The topping-out ceremony, a tradition passed down for generations throughout the construction industry, honors the construction team’s hard work and signals a time of celebration for the progress made on a project. The effort to achieve the milestone is highlighted by the following:
• More than 100,000 man hours have been worked to date.
• 1,780 truckloads of concrete have been used.
• 41% embodied carbon reduction was achieved, compared to traditional concrete construction, using the Embodied Carbon in Construction Calculator (EC3) tool, co-conceived by Skanska.
The 201,000-square-foot building designed by CallisonRTKL will be the first WELL Precertified new construction project in Northern Virginia. Once completed in 2024, the project will feature daylighting and electric lighting systems designed to increase alertness and an enhanced experience for occupants. Building with the tenant’s health and well-being in mind, the property’s amenities include more than 12,000- square feet of outdoor space across a rooftop terrace, private tenant terraces a plaza, conference space, and a modern fitness facility.
