NVCC plans to link up with other Virginia Universities to offer Bachelors Degrees to its students.<\/p>\n<p>\tDesigned by Perkins Eastman, the building is a three-story steel frame structure featuring a glass curtainwall. The remaining fa&ccedil;ade is brick and stone veneer with metal wall panels. A cantilevered second floor will dramatically extend over the campus pond and feature a walkway across the water to connect the building with the recently completed Learning Commons complex.<\/p>\n<p>\tThe Higher Education Center is designed to engage the students academically, technologically and socially. The academic facility will house classrooms, labs, common areas, a multi-purpose room, and office space as well as a sound isolated recording studio with control room. Advanced telecommunications capabilities will help to facilitate the connection between NVCC and its partner universities.<\/p>\n<p>\tConstruction of the project includes temporary, partial drainage of the pond for building footings, retaining walls, landscape and hardscape improvements.
