Kovars<\/strong>, co-chair of the firm&rsquo;s <a href='http:\/\/www.ober.com\/practices\/construction'>Construction Group<\/a>, has been named a Fellow of the <a href='http:\/\/www.accl.org'>American College of Construction Lawyers<\/a>. He is only the second lawyer from Maryland to receive this honor.<\/p>\n<p>\t<img alt='' src='\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Joseph_kovars.jpg' style='width: 138px; height: 187px; float: left;' \/>Fellowship is extended by invitation to those who are found to have mastered the practice or the teaching of construction law and dispute resolution in the complex technical and legal fields pertaining to the built environment, whose professional careers have been marked by the highest standards of ethical conduct, scholarship, professionalism and collegiality, and who have demonstrated a commitment to &#8216;give back&#8217; to the construction industry. The College has a limited membership of fewer than 200 lawyers from the United States, Canada, Britain, Australia, and France.<\/p>\n<p>\tAn experienced civil litigator, Joe concentrates his practice in construction and public contracts law. He represents contractors, subcontractors, sureties and owners in contract formation and construction disputes involving many types of construction projects, including representing the construction manager on a hotel-convention center project of more than $800 million, the largest of its kind on the East Coast. Recognized by numerous publications as a leading construction lawyer, Joe is editor-in-chief of the <a href='http:\/\/msba.inreachce.com\/Details?resultsPage=1&amp;q=construction+law+desk+book&amp;groupId=6b542c54-e8a8-495a-b37d-1bd5f4afcfba'><em>Maryland Construction Law Deskbook <\/em><\/a>(2012, MSBA). He is currently serving a three-year term as a member of the Governing Committee of the American Bar Association <a href='http:\/\/www.americanbar.org\/groups\/construction_industry.html'>Forum on the Construction Industry<\/a>. As chair of <a href='http:\/\/www.ober.com\/our_firm\/community-grants'>Ober|Kaler&rsquo;s Community Grant Program<\/a>, Joe has helped award grants to non-profits that assist children at risk in the cities of Baltimore and Washington.
